Lots of Mini Apps, Better IDE Search, Multi-tab Spreadsheets, Topic and View Visual Editor, More AI and More

April 18, 2025

  • Now spreadsheets can call data from many tabs at once. This offers the flexibility to run a bunch of queries and then manipulate the results into any spreadsheet layout that makes sense. Little more polish, but will be in beta soon.

  • We're making it 10x faster to find what you are looking for in the data model. Faceting for fields, topics, views; better search; and a simple UX. Launching soon.

  • Our AI is getting smarter - now with options to push simple queries to small, fast models or more complex queries to reasoning models. We're also teaching Blobby to build calculations using the Excel syntax for even more complex query construction.

  • We're overhauling the front end experience for views and topics to make everything UI controllable, more clear, and faster to work with. Here we show off the new experience landing soon.

  • It can sometimes be tricky to immediately understand the types of queries possible. Sample queries offer a way to curate out examples to enable better end user self-service.

  • We added a bunch of options for calendar visualization to the library - including timeline style (a la Github) or classic calendar view.

  • Now legend selection and de-selection is available for stacked bar chart, using both color faceting or multi-series stacking.

  • And a set of mini apps using the API

    • Another mini app on top of the API - this time for visually browsing the table model (think ERD for joins, fields, etc).

    • A quick mini app for migrating data models between Omni environments. Another example of simple workflow on top of the API - especially relevant for dev, staging, prod style deployments.

    • Another example of what's possible with the Omni API. Here we have a mini app for installing a database connection, data model, and dashboards in a few clicks.

    • We show off another mini app for managing users and groups inside Omni. Another example of the possibilities using the API for bulk user tuning.

Topic Sample Queries

It can sometimes be tricky to immediately understand the types of queries possible. Sample queries offer a way to curate out examples to enable better end user self-service. Also a little bonus feature with line breaks in tab descriptions.
